Blooded Wand

by Eric Michael Collins

The Wand chose a kitchen maid.

Once a century, in Castle Lightmoore, the Wand chooses its bearer. This time it bound Mara, a kitchen maid with no noble blood and no training. Ten years of keeping her head down. Then New Year’s Eve, and the Wand flew across the chamber and took her anyway. The Lightmoore family wants her gone. A cousin wants the Wand. War with the Dark Elves is coming. Mara has to learn a sentient artifact that speaks in feelings, not words. Power has a price. Survival may mean becoming everything she swore she never wanted to be.
